The challenge
A local business needed to update a neglected online presence to improve the overall customer experience. The primary goal was to save customers from making a wasted trip to the salvage yard by allowing them to verify stock before leaving home. To achieve this, the new site required the seamless integration of an existing, external inventory search system.
The solution
Leveraging the tools I was utilizing for the fraternity at the time, I designed a new website on the Webs.com platform to clearly present the business’s information. Although the platform had significant technical restrictions regarding custom code, I devised a workaround to successfully embed the external inventory tool. I also prioritized the configuration of a dedicated mobile view, recognizing early on that customers would likely be searching for parts from their phones while on the go. The successful delivery of this commercial project was the catalyst that inspired the formal creation of RePixelated.
Highlights
- Creative integration: Successfully embedded a complex external inventory system despite the limitations of a restrictive platform.
- Mobile first thinking: Prioritized a specific mobile interface at a time when mobile browsing was just beginning to overtake desktop usage.
- Foundational project: Served as the first commercial referral project, directly inspiring the launch of RePixelated.
